BACKUP SOFTWARE- LETS GET REAL

You and I know the real story. The real story is that new computers are so well made that they almost never fail, right?

Therefore, we dont need to worry about buying backup software and setting up a computer backup system, do we? It would just be a waste time-- for sure!

After all we know that all the press about hard drive failures, natural disasters and terrorist attacks is just a conspiracy by the backup software companies to get us to buy their products.

Personally I never had a hard drive failure (that I recall). If my computer stops working for whatever reason, thats life.

You've probably researched the advantages of installing ceiling fans and have learned that besides the aesthetic appeal that is part and parcel of a ceiling fan, there are a number of benefits that impact your wallet in a positive way.

The industry has determined that the cooling effect of a ceiling fan can make a room feel at least 7 degrees cooler than it really is and the consequent adjustment to your thermostat can cut your air conditioning related energy costs by as much as 35% to 45%. In the cold months, reversing the fan blades so they push warm air down from the ceiling can reduce your heating expenses as well. Some experts maintain that you can save between 8% to 12% on your heating bill.

So, youre sold on the idea of installing ceiling fans. The next step is to decide what brand, style, etc. youre going to invest your money in. Do the research. Find out who the major players are in the manufacture of ceiling fans and how long theyve been at it. Its not necessarily who sells the most ceiling fans but rather, what consumers say about the various brands. The Internet can help but you have to be wary about sales pitches that are disguised as testimonials. Here are a few more tips to consider while youre shopping for the right fan(s). The size of the room determines the span of the blade you should be looking for. Youll find blade spans that range between 29 to 56. The smallest blade span will work for a room that is no bigger than 50 square feet while a 36 blade span will service an area of approximately 70 to 80 square feet. Larger rooms, such as 100 square feet need at least a 42 blade span and a room that is larger than 100 square feet should have a fan with the longest blade span you can find.

Make sure the pitch of the blade is approximately 14 degrees for the most efficient air movement.

Many fans are equipped with lighting. Consider the size of the room and what the room will be used for when deciding whether or not to buy a fan with lights. Most manufacturers make ceiling fans that can be adapted to lighted fixtures with a lighting kit designed specifically for a particular model.

Finally, buy a ceiling fan that is reversible so that you can run it in one direction for cooling and in the other direction for heating.

Keep in mind that the fan blades should be at least seven feet from the floor and a foot below the ceiling. For lower ceilings, choose a hugger type fan. With higher ceilings, you can purchase what is called a down rod for purposes of extending the fan closer to the floor.

Okay. Its time to get down to some of the basic issues related to getting these things up where they belong and doing what theyre designed to do.

Youve purchased the fan(s). As you unpack the first one, make sure you check the parts you take from the box against the listing (usually an exploded drawing) of the parts shown in the manufacturers literature. Lay out the parts and then check them off to make sure that youve got everything youre supposed to have. Keep the parts away from the area where you will actually install the fan to keep from creating a mess as you begin the actual job.

Be sure youve got all the tools you need before starting the job. This includes a stepladder, the right kind of screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, something to strip the wires with, a circuit tester, a ceiling box, a hammer and a saw to make the opening in the drywall. Its probably a good idea to have your toolbox handy just in case you need something you havent anticipated. The best way to make sure youve got everything you need is to read the installation instructions from beginning to end before you do anything else.

If youre among the fortunate, the room will have a ceiling box that is being used for a light fixture already mounted in the center of the room. Generally, the existing ceiling box will need to be replaced with one specifically designed for mounting a ceiling fan. ceiling fans weigh considerably more than light fixtures and may require additional support. If the material that came with the fan doesnt include a new ceiling box and mounting brackets, you will have to purchase these separately before proceeding. You may need to hire an experienced, licensed electrician to do this part of the job if you dont have the expertise yourself. The primary consideration is to make certain that the ceiling box provides adequate support for the weight of the ceiling fan. A brace (mounting bracket) mounted between ceilings joists will provide the necessary support.

On the other hand, if you dont have a ceiling box mounted in the center of the room, you will need to undertake the necessary renovations to run electricity from the closest source to the center of the room. The steps required to do this are beyond the scope of this article and will usually require the services of an experienced and licensed electrician.

Most manuals that are packed with the ceiling fan will provide considerable detail regarding what it will take to adequately support the ceiling fan.

Make sure the electricity to the room is turned off at the box (circuit breaker or fuse box). Test the wiring with a circuit tester to make sure its off. If the room has inadequate natural lighting, you may need to run an extension cord with a lighting fixture from another part of the house to provide you with adequate visibility.

Carefully read the installation manual and follow the step-by-step instructions for installing the fan. Keep in mind that this is usually at least a two-person job. Even though the instructions may not tell you this, be sure that there is sufficient clearance between the blades and the ceiling to attach the blades after installing the motor. If not, install the blades to the motor arms before attaching the motor to the electrical box.

Its common sense so it may not be mentioned in the manual but make sure the screws that are used to attach the blades are evenly tightened.

Now that your fan is installed, its time to test its operation. Turn on the power and switch on the fan. Although the manufacturer should make certain that the blades are evenly weighted and that their angles are all the same, it may still wobble somewhat once it begins to rotate. If this is the case, turn the fan off and check to make certain that the screws that attach the blades are all tight. Use a yardstick held vertically at the edge of one of the blades and manually rotate the blades to make sure that they are in alignment. If there is any misalignment, gently bend the blade up or down to get the blade aligned properly.

If the wobble persists, it usually means that one or more of the blades weigh more or less than the others. Many manufacturers include weight-balancing clips with the ceiling fans. These clips install on the top of the blade and add weight. Less weight is added the closer to the motor housing the clip is installed. Adjust the clip(s) until the wobble stops. If weight-balancing clips were not included, they can be purchased at a lighting store, home center or at many hardware stores.

Your ceiling fan should be ready to use and should offer you years of pleasure and comfort.

credit card debt is not any thing easy to get out of. It sure is easy to get in to debt but you have to scrape and crawl your way out of bottomless black hole.

Americans are saving less and charging more. We live in a world of, I want it and I want it right now. What ever happened to waiting or putting off pleasure? credit card companies have made it too easy for us to live beyond our means. We cannot blame the credit card companies for all of our debt. We need to learn to tell ourselves "NO". We also need to learn to tell our children "NO" also. We need to learn self control and think about tomorrow and not what is going to make us happy today.

I recently saw a commercial that Gary Coleman was in. It was for one of those "payday loan" places. I am not certain on the company so I do not want to bash the wrong one. Although, I would not promote any of them. I was watching the commercial and then I saw the small print come up on the screen and I have Tivo, so I hit the pause button. I nearly fell off of my sofa when I read that you can borrow $2500.00 at 99.25% interest. After making payments back to the company you will repay over $9000.00.

What part of this sounds like a good idea? I guess desperate people call for desperate measures. Even if a family members life depended on me giving them $2500.00, I would sell my car before I would borrow money at nearly 100% interest. That is "highway robbery" at its best.

I have managed to crawl out of credit card debt, it has took me almost 10 years to do so. I still have a student loan and car payment. I had a hard time believing that I can watch live TV from my PC. Having missed out on many action series like prison break, I new I had to see what all this meant. You see satellite TV, despite its frequently reducing cost is still un-affordable to most of us folks. With essential monthly bills accumulating to almost $2000 a month, even a $39.95 satellite installation fee and a minimum subscription fee of $19.95 seems to much to afford. Not for entertainment for a TV you never have time to watch anyway. I mean how many times have you felt guilty sitting in the sitting room watching TV as work piles away. Ill tell you that, a good measure many.

Now this guy was telling me that I wont have to go to the TV set. TV will find me in my work at my pc and as I work. Too good a deal not to test. If only to see if it were true. So off I go into the internet searching for the free internet TV on my pc. I try the free sites to access the free online TV and boy what a disappointment. The time it takes me to watch free TV was too much for a half an hour series.

It happens that free TV is now accessed by so many people worldwide, wherever there is internet that the servers can no longer cope. Due to so many requests for free internet TV, the servers are unable to process the requests in time and the result is that no one gets to watch free TV anymore. Its no longer an option if you ask me. So I go back digging into the internet for something more accessible and at speeds I can stand.

After going through a lot of sales pitches, I almost give up when a light bulb lights up in my head. What if I search from the market point of view. Surely, I'm bound to find a satellite TV for pc software that most marketers are selling. I tried one of the big online merchants called click bank to see if they had any such software that was on the market. Sure enough I found one very popular TV on pc software which to me seemed to be retailing at a ridiculous price. At only $49.95 the PC 2007 Elite edition seemed like a steal. I figured it wasnt too much of a cost if only to get me TV that I could at least watch from my pc.

What was most interesting is that the vendors website even had a miniscreen that I cloud watch latest movie trailers as seen on TV. In addition the free pc TV software only took 2 minutes from download to watching the live TV. The website said that the software could also avail international TV from over 70 countries and I get to watch more than 3000 TV channels across the world. Try that for variety.

I decided to make the download and I was surprised at the speeds and variety of TV channels. In less than 2 minutes my computer had become a full theatre; from sports programs to football series, from educational TV channels to shopping guides. I had it all including classic series, to romantic TV soaps and live sports.

The variety also gave me access to TV in many languages that I wondered what it would mean for people living in Europe or USA from other countries. In an instant I had world TV channels in many languages and programs like African, Arabic, Armenian, Asian, Chinese, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Israeli, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, South Asian, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu.

Well, I'm yet to sample the last of the 3000 TV channels six months down the line. I think its was the best money well spent since.

Funny Things We Dream

I often wonder why I wake up so happy, ready to start the day. When I was younger I'd whack the alarm clock, for the fourth time, grumble out of bed and stomp around with a major sour puss. Now I'm up before the alarm clock most mornings, and I don't grumble, not as often as I used to anyway. I'm often anxious to see what the day will bring.

I think I've stumbled upon the reason for my early rise and my cheery outlook. My wife. Yes, she brightens up my days and has given me tremendous motivation, though she still sleeps later than I do, and she tends to grumble, though not too badly.

There's another reason, and this also involves my wife. I believe that laughter is the best medicine, and she makes me laugh. More so, I think a happy attitude is contagious, and the reason I wake up happy might be this: my wife laughs in her sleep.

I kid you not. She laughs out loud. So loud that I'm frequently awakened by her nocturnal guffaws. Sometimes it begins as a chuckle, but many times the laughter just erupts, like she just saw the funniest thing in the world. How can I help but be amused and feel happy myself when I'm treated to this many nights out of a week.

There's more... while still asleep, she tells me what she was laughing about. Here's are the most recent accounts...

One night she rolls over and begins her laughing. I wake up, and wait for her to settle down. Then I ask "What's so funny?"

I wasn't expecting a response, but to my surprise she answered me while still sound asleep. She said "Mrs. Juniper said the juniper wouldn't grow much taller than two feet, but she planted it and the damn thing took off, and it's still growing! Ha ha ha ha...." Then she began to snore again.

I shook my head, rolled over and settled in for the remainder of the night, knowing that we'd both get a kick out the story when I recalled it the following day. We did.

The most recent episode was even better, stranger. This time it seemed like I was already awake before she started laughing, maybe she had been chuckling first and that roused me. Either way, when she stopped her laughter I decided to see if she would talk again.

I asked "Okay, what's so funny this time?"

Her reply was classic. A truly original rambling by a sleeping brain. She said "Orville Redenbacher's plane wouldn't fly so they were trying to hang Orville Redenbacher's plane over the bed by a string. Ha ha ha ha...." Then she conked out.

Again I shook my head, rolled over and anticipated the break of day, when I would share the tale from her sleeping brain with her alert brain. I couldn't wait to see her reaction.

I ask you, being a natural marvel, capable of great intellect, doesn't the human brain have better things to think about? The mechanics of slumbering gray matter perplex me.

Why she laughs in her sleep I don't know, but I'm glad she does. I'm happily married, and I assure you, that will never change!

I'm looking forward to more of her one liners from la-la-land. Can there be more? I'll keep you posted. Heck, if I collect enough maybe I'll write a book!
